A pension is a regular monthly payment based on pension and disability insurance. It provides material and social security in old age, or in the event of a disability or the death of an insured person.
You qualify for a pension from the day the conditions for a pension are met, but it is paid no sooner than from the first day of the month following the claim and for a backdated period of no more than 6 months.
If an insured person qualifies for two or more pensions under the compulsory insurance scheme in Slovenia, they may receive only one of them of their choice, unless the law provides otherwise. The only exception to this is the receipt of a pension based on their own insurance periods (old-age, early retirement benefit or disability pension) and a portion of a widower’s pension.
